Welcome to Kindergarten
Dear Parents,
Welcome to kindergarten! We are looking forward to getting to know you and your child throughout this school year. Kindergarten is a transition year into elementary school not only for the children, but also for many parents. We look forward to working with you during this year of change.
Please remember that the first days of school for your child will usually be happy ones. However, learning to share new, bigger places and spaces with other children is a growing and learning experience! As parents, you may help by listening to your child attentively, showing confidence in their ability to handle many situations and giving them a little extra love and attention during the exciting days ahead!
In kindergarten, our objectives and goals are the same in communication arts, math, science, and social studies. Together, the kindergarten teachers meet weekly as a “team” to plan and share ideas, but we implement those plans in ways that best meet the individual needs of the students in our own classrooms.
One way that each of you can assist in the organization of our classrooms is to send your child to school EACH day with a back-pack. Please make sure that it is labeled with your child’s name and room number on the inside. Please also make it a habit to empty the contents of your child’s back-pack each day.
For students riding buses, it is IMPERATIVE that they attach their bus tag to their backpack and “wear” it the first two weeks of school. This will assist both the teachers and the bus drivers in getting the students on the correct transportation. Please follow the same instructions for car riders, walkers and those attending SACC. IF YOUR CHILD HAS A CHANGE AT ANY TIME IN THEIR TRANSPORTATION, PLEASE SEND A WRITTEN NOTE OR CALL YOUR CHILD’S TEACHER. Without a note or phone call, the teacher will send your child on their daily routine transportation.
We are looking forward to getting to know you and your child, and to making this a very positive experience for your entire family. We welcome your active involvement and participation in kindergarten, and encourage you to communicate with us frequently so that we can make sure that your child’s kindergarten year is an excellent one.
